UPCOMING EVENTS:
• Thursday, September 12, time & location TBD: Dr. Judith Weis will give a talk and slide show on the life of crabs ("Walking Sideways: The Remarkable World of Crabs"). Due to the uncertain renovation schedule at The Center the exact time and location will be detemined closer to the event date.
● September 21 - 28, 2013. Diving For Life. Curacao. Diving For Life will be in Curacao from September 21-28, 2013. You will be able to find details on the trip and registration info at www.divingforlife.org.
OTHER ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The Village Dive Club is going to San Juan, Puerto Rico the weekend of February 22, and to Vieques for diving beginning Tuesday, February 26 and returning on Sunday, March 3. There may still be space available, so if you are interested email Bruce Monroe at bmonroe@nyc.rr.com.
Also, the Village Dive Club is looking for some new leadership - members who are willing to step into leadership roles, organize meetings, social outings, trips, etc. New ideas are always welcome. If you are interested please let us know.
Eric Heller was interviewed for an article in Next Magazine that can be found here: http://www.nextmagazine.com/content/under-sea-minus-ariel-0. The Village Dive Club got some favorable press as well.
If you haven't paid your 2013 dues, please take a few minutes and do so. We didn't collect dues in 2010 due to the economy, but your $20 contribution for 2012 dues will help pay for our meeting space and equipment at the LGBT Center, certain social events and Village Dive Club website maintenance.
